1 Overview



Podium Analytics is an NGO charity dedicated to promoting safety in sports by uniting experts in science, technology, academia, and athletics. Their mission is to extend people's enjoyment of sports by preventing injuries.



Questions

  1. Do grassroots sports programs contribute to preventing sports injuries, particularly concussions?

  2. Do sports clubs and schools have access to injury monitoring systems or tracking tools?


Goal

  • Drive widespread adoption of Sportsmart among local clubs and schools as the primary app aligned with current concussion guidelines.

  • Expand Sportsmart's presence to include regional areas across the UK

  • Direct new users to the Sportsmart Hub, an invaluable resource offering educational content, best practices, and youth sports health-focused features.


My Part

To simplify complex language and processes, making them user-friendly. My contributions extended to creating engaging content for various platforms, including LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and SportSmart Hub.


Initial Ideation Exercise

I delved into Podium Analytics' unique tone and style, focusing on creating user-friendly and engaging content. I utilized tools like Miro for brainstorming and crafting captivating captions. This process allowed me to seamlessly align with Podium's existing content strategy while ensuring our content remained fresh and consistently user-centred.

User Research

For this project, we worked with user researchers who conducted surveys (both paid and unpaid), interviews, and engaged with sports professionals, scientists, and academics, along with social media analysis. These insights guided us in crafting content that resonated with our audience, fostering engagement and inspiration.


Challenges Faced

One of the main challenges I encountered was transitioning from academic writing, which often leans towards complexity and uniqueness, to content writing that demanded clear, fun, and understandable language.


Overcoming the Challenge

To address this, I:

Focused on our user audience, simplifying language for parents, students, and educators.

Strived for simplicity without sacrificing clarity.

Actively sought feedback and learned from colleagues.
